Highlights from Saturday’s full slate of NCAA Football scores and Week 1 action. College football’s first full Saturday came with upsets, spectacular debuts, and statements made by national title contenders.
Heisman Trophy competitor Caleb Williams tossed for 249 yards, scored two scores through the air and had six conveys and 68 yards in his most memorable game since being moved with the hand-off from Oklahoma. Sure, it was Rice, but it’s been a long time since we’ve seen the Trojan team take care of business like the powerhouse it used to be.
Bryce Young topped the 100-yard mark through air and land, and was responsible for a total of six touchdowns (five races, one passing) in a Heisman-like performance. The defense was also effective, catching Aggie at 136 yards in the evening.

Top-ranked Crimson Tide had no problem with the Aggies in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night. Quarterback Bryce Young was hair-raising with 195 passing yards, five passing scores, 100 hurrying yards and one surging score. The defense put Utah State in third place with only 136 yards and 3 for 17 in a masterpiece.
Florida coach Billy Napier became the first Gator coach to defeat a ranked team in the nail-biter The Swamp in his first game as head coach of Florida. Amari Burney played cam rising in the end zone with 22 seconds to maintain a three-point lead and sealed a tremendous game from potential star quarterback Anthony Richardson.
Bryce Young Working
Young and the Crimson Tide have completely dominated the Aggies, and Young’s quest for a repeat as Heisman Trophy winner is clearly underway. Junior has 195 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and 96 rushing yards which has been one of the most impressive milestones of his career.
Alabama is cruising
The Alabama Redemption Tour is off to a good start, as the Crimson Tide takes an early lead against Utah State in Tuscaloosa. Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young scored 13 for 17 from 130 yards and has three touchdowns, including two for Georgia transfer Jermaine Burton, to establish himself as the undisputed top team in the country.
Houston survived the instant classic
It took two clutch field goals and three overtime, but Houston began its 2022 campaign with a win over the defending Conference USA champions. Clayton Tune threw for 206 yards, ran for 51 yards and posted four touchdowns, but none bigger than his triple-ot jump in the final field, which became the game-winner.
Arizona big win
Last season, Arizona went 1–11 and San Diego State won 12 games. What a difference a year makes for Jade Fish and its program. The transfer caused receiver Jacob Koing to post eight catches for 152 yards and three touchdowns in a sensational performance.
Nebraska falls apart
The Cornhuskers covered 89 yards in 11 plays, with Ajay Allen completing the drive with a 14-yard TD run. He is praising Anthony Grant a lot today. Combined, the pair is over 200 yards. Take a deep breath, Nebraska fans.
Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Miami All Cruises
Ole Miss Takeaway: Feels good in an ongoing game against a good Troy team. Oklahoma Takeaway: The offense made TDs on six of its first eight properties when starting out.Miami Takeaway: Some very explosive passing plays and yard drops after the catch. But you can’t go crazy when you get 70 points
Good ending is coming
After a combined 27 points in the third quarter, Arkansas is in fourth place with a 7-point lead. But the Bearcats seem to be figuring things out aggressively. Ben Bryant hit Charles McClelland on the edge of the red zone for just 30 yards.
