Twitter Inc owner Elon Musk said the web-based entertainment conglomerate will soon change its logo, removing the blue bird that has long been its hallmark.
“Assuming that enough X logos are posted tonight, we’ll make it live tomorrow,” Musk tweeted late Saturday. About a portion of a year subsequent to securing Twitter for $44 billion, he merged the association into an organization called X Corp.
Musk wrote in another post, ‘Very soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter brand and slowly to all birds.’
Twitter actually has a brand tool stash page on its site, touting the light blue bird as its “most exclusive resource.” While that page says the organization protects its logo and provides rules on the most efficient way to use it, Musk is clearly not a fan of it.
During a brief appearance on Twitter Space, he pointed to the logo change, saying “this should have been done a long time ago.” “We’re removing the Twitter logo with a blowtorch,” he said, pointing to an already-modified sign on the organization’s San Francisco Central Command.
Partners have not liked many of the changes Musk has made in Twitter so far. Constancy reduced the value of its stake in the organization to 66% in May, while Cathy Wood’s ARK Satta Board has recorded its stake at 47%, he told Money Road Diary last week.
In the spring, Musk recommended that the organization make changes by making its promotions more prominent. He added that Twitter has an opportunity to earn back the original investment based on earnings in the next quarter.
That expectation was overly optimistic. Musk recently tweeted that Twitter’s revenue is still negative and blamed the company for the liability burden as well as halving of advertising revenue.

However, the change on Twitter drew sharp analysis on the virtual entertainment platform.
Adamson said the change would be extremely confusing to Twitter’s vast crowd, which has been confused by the social platform so far given the many other significant changes Musk has made.
Most recently, Musk imposed new curfews on its computerized town square, a move that drew sharp analysis that it could drive away more promoters and erode its social influence as an innovator.
The higher tweet-viewing limit is key to the $8-per-month subscription administration that Musk recently implemented to help Twitter generate revenue. Earnings have taken a huge hit since Musk took control of the organization and laid off nearly three-quarters of the workforce in a bid to cut costs and avoid bankruptcy.
In May, Musk hired longtime NBC general chief Linda Yacarino as president of Twitter.
Attracting publicists is fundamental for Musk and Twitter, as many fled the web-based entertainment platform in the early months after his acquisition, fearing that their brand would be damaged by the turmoil surrounding it. Promoters have massively cut spending in light of the changes Musk has made, allowing more derisive content to flourish and angering a large portion of the stage crowd.
Musk said in late April that the promoters were back on, yet did not provide any details.
Musk’s move to change Twitter’s logo to an “X” comes as Twitter faces new competition from recently shuttered Meta’s new application, Strings. It has been seen as an alternative for those who are fed up with Twitter.
Strings is being pitched as a text-based rendition of Meta’s photo sharing application Instagram, which the association said gives “a new, separate space for continuous updates and public conversations.”
In the first five days of its launch, 100 million people followed Strings, according to a post on Strings by Instagram head Adam Mosseri.
Musk posted a picture of a glowing “X”, and later at the Twitter Space Sound Tour, when asked if Twitter’s logo would change, he said “yes”, adding that “it should have happened a long time ago”.
Under Musk’s turbulent residency since buying Twitter in October, the organization has changed its business name to X Corp, reflecting the tycoon’s vision of building a “super application” similar to China’s WeChat.
In April the bird was temporarily replaced by Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog, helping to fill the image with baby-appropriate value.
