Elon Musk’s new weird motor shocks the entire industry Electric cars have a penchant for blistering acceleration Things are about to get even crazier with a new development from Elon Musk Elon hints at Tesla’s crazy new motor that’s the highest- The spec Tesla will accelerate the Model S Plaid almost a second faster than the almighty Bugatti Chiron.
Stay tuned to know what Elon Musk did with his engine Humble beginnings The electric motor is considered to be one of the most essential innovations that man ever conceived It is highly commendable that the way our inventions are not We have been futuristic about what has only been designed to suit our current needs.
The stator and rotor are the first major components we’ll look at. The rotor is a collection of short-circuit conducting bars connected by bus end rings. Three-phase AC and the coil generate a magnetic field. Tesla’s motors generate a four-pole magnetic field. The rotating magnetic field induces a current that moves the rotor bar in a Converts to induction motor.
The rotor speed, or RMF speed, consistently falls behind the stator speed. The enlistment engine is very strong, in spite of the absence of brushes and extremely durable magnets. Enlistment engines are surprising in that the recurrence of the air conditioner power source decides their rotational speed. This infers that the power supply recurrence can be changed to alter the rotational speed of the wheel.
Tesla motors can spin from zero to 18,000 revolutions per minute, or rpm. The battery pack provides power for the induction motor however the source has to be converted to AC power before it reaches the motor as it generates DC power. Here, the inverter comes into play.
The inverter converts DC to AC and changes the frequency of the AC power, so that the speed of the motor can be controlled by changing the amplitude of the AC motor. The inverter can also change the output power of the motor. At the same time, it is to some extent the brainchild of the electric car. The battery pack consists of a vast collection of ordinary lithium-ion battery cells, the comparison of which with the batteries found in everyday life would be surprising to most people.
All these cells are connected in a series and parallel manner to provide the electricity required to run the electric vehicle. Glycol coolant is pumped between the cells through metal inner tubes which is one of the concepts that sets Tesla apart from other electric car makers. Instead of a few large cells, many smaller cells are used to provide the required cooling.
As a result, thermal hotspots are eliminated, allowing for even temperature distribution across different cells and extended battery pack life. These cells are divided into detachable modules with approximately 7000 cells in each of the 16 modules. Currently, the prime example of Tesla’s engineering genius is the Tesla Model S plaid.
At least until the Roadster arrives. Tesla has always been ruthless, and the company, driven by its folly, is almost equally adept at pushing boundaries in fun as it is at making serious industry-shifting progress. This ultimately succeeds in pushing Tesla’s performance to new absurd levels. It is the first Tesla with three electric motors, two in the rear, and one in the front axle, all of which are now permanent magnet synchronous PC machined, carbon fiber sleeved rotors.
In plaid, the moving parts of the engine are new. A carbon fiber cover holds all the rotors together, allowing for a rotational rate of up to 20,000 RPM, which is about 25% faster than before. Tesla claims that the different coefficients of thermal expansion between carbon and copper cause the copper wire of the motor to be coiled at exceptionally high tension, resulting in a certain efficient electromagnetic field.
Additionally, the plaid addresses an EV flaw, particularly in cars with direct drive gearboxes like the Tesla, where power drops significantly as speed increases. Tesla claims the Plaid maintains its 1020 horsepower for the 1000’s top speed of 200 mph. Despite the more significant power, the Plaid was £175 lighter than the Model S performance variation at £4828.00.
How does this work? According to Motor Trend, the Model S Plaid clocks a quick 9.25 seconds for the quarter-mile and 152.6 mph. Zero to 60 mph after the brutal launch, the run is just 1.98 seconds. The plaid covers the distance so quickly that it is difficult to even register what is happening. The yoke feels light in your hands. Your neck muscles tense as your helmeted head digs into the headrest, and a quarter-mile of pavement blurs in shapes and colors around you.
This is a significant achievement, although the car could not reach and maintain 200 mph at the time due to the risk of damage to the drivetrain in such an incident. The top speed limit is something Tesla is looking to improve on for the upcoming Roadster. as the car is touted to be the next paradigm shift in EV performance technology.
How is its battery? Considering such improvements in the efficacy of vehicle battery technology, Tesla has resolved to switch to lithium iron phosphate batteries. The move could be a strategy for Tesla to increase profit margins on its fully electric vehicles without a price hike. Tesla has been criticized in the past for prodigious car pricing at its Shanghai facility.
According to Roskill, materials researcher and consultant, China generally encourages the use of this type of battery, and about 95% of LFP cathode manufacturers are made in China.
Tesla asked Model 3 reservation holders in the United States in September 2021 if they would accept a car with a battery instead of the nickel-cobalt, aluminum oxide or NCA cells in previous Model 3 sedans delivered in North America. They are also making progress in research and development of the new 4680 battery. The 4680 designation refers to the diameter and height of the battery, which are 46 millimeters and 80 millimeters, respectively.
This relatively larger size and improved power density promise 14% cost savings with fewer cells needed to manufacture a full-sized pack. A large-scale construction program has not yet been established. On the other hand, after its 2021 results call, Panasonic told US media that it would prioritize Tesla car supplies while negotiating with other manufacturers.
While the new technology is seen as a major step forward in reducing the cost of entry for an environmentally friendly automobile, Tesla recently announced that it plans to build a more affordable hatchback, called the It’s called Model 2. However, the 46 Ah battery can still be installed in the current Model 3 sedan, Model S sedan, Model Y SUV and Model X SUV to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
The hypercar and racing performance landscape is being reshaped by the electric automobile. These new hypercars have pushed the engineering envelope to the point where internal combustion engines run out of steam. Consider the Hennessey Venom F5 and the Bugatti Chiron, both of which achieved top speeds without using electric propulsion. It took about 150 years for combustion engines to reach these heights in recent years.
Hybrid cars like the Lotus Avija have been developed, and they easily surpass the Venom and Chiron in terms of power. Importantly, the first generation Tesla Roadster led the way for this to happen. And then, Tesla will have to make the next big leap and compete with its new competitors. Update on the release date for the Tesla Roadster Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen gave a rare update on the Tesla Roadster, which has been repeatedly delayed.
Nevertheless, Tesla is working on a fast electric hypercar that would be an exciting flying machine. According to Musk, Tesla wants to sell the SpaceX package with cold air thrusters around the car to improve performance, according to the designer. According to them, the kit can bring the zero to 60 mph time down to 1.1 seconds. Isn’t it amazing? This will be the fastest ever, and is a record that very few people will be able to achieve within a short time frame.
We haven’t heard anything about the new Tesla Roadster all year and assume it’s been postponed once again. It’s been a tough year due to manufacturer, chip shortages, and the Cybertruck, which was undoubtedly a priority, has also been delayed. In September 2021, when Musk was asked about the Roadster schedule, he said that it had been pushed to 2023.
