Los Angeles AP rapper A$AP Rocky was accused Monday of two crime counts for threatening to use a firearm at a previous companion and shooting him in Hollywood last year examiners said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office charged a 33-year-old New York native whose legal name is Rakim Athelston Meyers with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic shotgun.
Examiners charge that during a contention on November 6, 2021 Meyers pointed a firearm at the person in question then in an ensuing a showdown attracted the weapon once more and discharged two times the direction of the man who had suffered minor injuries. His name has not been released.
Meyers has not petitioned for charges. He is to appear on Wednesday. An email looking for input from delegates was not quickly returned.
District Attorney George Gascon said in a statement that possessing a gun in a public place is a serious crime that can end with tragic consequences not only for the objective individual yet in addition for guiltless onlookers visiting Hollywood.
Police said the mayor and two others fled the spot after firing. He was first captured for the episode on April 20 at Los Angeles International Airport and was delivered on bail that very day.
A$AP Rocky a member of the Harlem hip hop collective A$AP Mob first made his mark in 2011 with the single Peso. Their 2013 debut album Long Last A$AP went to number 1 on the Billboard 200 as did its 2015 follow-up At Long Last A$AP. He has been named for two Grammy Awards.
He is involved with Rihanna and in May they had a child. Meyers released her last studio album four years ago and is like Rihanna who is as known for fashion trendsetting as she is for music.
He was the focal point of global consideration in 2019 in the wake of being confined for almost a month in Sweden following a street debate. He was found guilty of assault and given a conditional sentence that did not mean additional time in prison.
