Statement by the Prime Minister on Mid-Autumn Festival.

State head Justin Trudeau today gave the accompanying assertion on the festival of the Mid-Harvest time Celebration.
This evening we join the Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese people group in Canada and all over the planet to commend the Mid-Harvest time Celebration, otherwise called the Moon Celebration.

For centuries, the festival of Mid-Autumn has been celebrated throughout Asia on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. To mark the occasion, members of these communities would light colored lanterns with their loved ones and exchange gifts and wishes under the full moon.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is also a time to celebrate the importance of family, give thanks for the successes of the past year, and look with optimism for the year ahead. Today we celebrate and consider the variety that Canada addresses. Chinese Vietnamese Koreans and Japanese Canadians are improving lives driven by their shared values of respect, generosity and care for our communities.

It is an opportunity to come together and discover the traditions that make our communities richer and more diverse. For our family, Sophie and I wish everybody an extremely Blissful Mid-Fall Celebration.
